Monday, 8 November 2021 (YJC)_ The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced that the Deputy Foreign Minister had a conversation with the US Special Representative for Iran regarding the ongoing efforts to resume the Vienna talks.
The South Korean Foreign Ministry announced today (Monday) that the Deputy Foreign Minister had a telephone conversation with the US Special Representative for Iran and discussed current efforts to resume the Vienna talks.
Choi Jong-kan and Robert Malley discussed the issue as talks on reviving the 2015 Iran nuclear deal are set to resume on November 29.
According to South Korea's Yonhap news agency, the ministry said without elaborating that Malley shared the latest developments in the nuclear talks, and Choi stressed Seoul's willingness to support diplomatic efforts.
According to Yonhap, although South Korea is not a member of Borjam, Washington has maintained contact with its ally Seoul in this regard, especially with regard to Iran's assets in South Korea, which have been frozen under US sanctions.
