Sunday, 7 November 2021 (YJC)_ Russia's deputy foreign minister says there appears to be no progress in Moscow's talks with Washington and no progress is expected.
The Russian government said Saturday that it did not expect progress in talks with the United States in the coming weeks on issues such as visas and the scale of the embassies.
Russian media reported that despite relations at the lowest level since the Cold War, Moscow and Washington disagreed on the number of diplomats they could send to each other, although Russia has said it wants to lift restrictions imposed in recent years.
According to Reuters, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said on Saturday that recent contacts with Washington had merely reiterated the two sides' previously stated positions, but that a new round of talks in a third country would take place in the coming weeks.
"Interfax" quoted Ryabkov as saying:
There seems to be no progress, and no progress is expected.
