Xu Fenglian, a spokesman for the Chinese government's Taiwan office, warned that the country would ban supporters of "Taiwan independence" from all parts of China, including Hong Kong and Macao.
He added:
Under the law, we will impose sanctions on all those who affirm Taiwan's independence and prevent them and their families from entering the mainland and the Hong Kong and Macao territories.
The Chinese official continued:
We will make a list of those who support Taiwan's independence, and these people will be barred from cooperating with organizations and individuals in China.
In recent months, the United States, along with Canada, Britain, France and Japan, has repeatedly taken a stand in support of Taiwan, and some of these countries have been patrolling the Taiwan Strait despite Chinese warnings.
