Thursday, 4 November 2021 (YJC)_ Russia's ambassador to the United States, Anatoly Antonov, has warned that it is impossible for relations to return to normal without resolving the problems and limitations in Moscow-Washington relations.
As Moscow recently hosted a Russian-US intelligence meeting, Moscow's ambassador to Washington spoke about the current state of bilateral relations and differences between them.
According to Russian media reports, Russia's ambassador to the United States said that Washington had rejected Moscow's proposal to lift all diplomatic restrictions between the two countries.
According to Tass, Mr. Anatoly Antonov said in an interview with Russia-24 TV:
Our proposal to remove all existing restrictions was not supported by either the State Department or the White House. I raised this issue in my contacts.
The senior Moscow diplomat said it would be impossible to resume normal relations between Russia and the United States without resolving these issues.
Russia's ambassador to the United States said:
I think someone here in Washington thinks we need bad relations. Naturally, we (Russia) cannot accept this view.
Earlier, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov on Tuesday called on the United States to begin talks with Russia to lift restrictions on relations between the two countries.
Russia's deputy foreign minister also warned that the current crisis in US-US relations could be even more dangerous than the two countries experienced during the Cold War.
