Iranian President: No Redline in Fighting CorruptionAddressing a cabinet meeting on Wednesday, Iranian president, Ebrahim Raeisi vowed that he has no redline in fighting corruption, even in dealing with his colleagues and ministers.

“I do not have any redlines, there is not any even for my chief of staff, or my deputies and ministers. None of them is a redline for me,” he said while noting that “People who vote for him in June presidential election did this with the aim of fighting the corruption.”

He went on to say that potential people relating to corruption either have the option of defending their appointments if they were based on merits or correct the assignment while noting that “It is upon officials to address corruptions occurred in their jurisdiction and to introduce the perpetrators to the Judiciary.”

President Raeisi served as attorney general from 2014 to 2016, and was deputy Judiciary chief from 2004 to 2014. He was also prosecutor and deputy prosecutor of Tehran in the 1980s and 90s. As the Judiciary chief, Rayeesi launched a widespread anti-corruption campaign and also drew up laws to protect women against domestic violence.
