Wednesday, 3 November 2021 (YJC)_ The former Saudi ambassador to Washington said the US withdrawal from Afghanistan marked the beginning of a period of strategic confusion and that US allies were thinking away from the alliance.
Turki al-Faisal, the former Saudi ambassador to Washington, said in a statement on Tuesday that the US withdrawal from Afghanistan marked the beginning of a period of "strategic confusion".
"Washington and NATO both failed in Afghanistan," he said.
America's allies, and the West in general, will think far from uniting with them in the post-Afghanistan and Iraq eras.
The former Saudi ambassador to Washington continued:
If the strategic confusion continues, the progress that humanity has made over the past decades will be threatened.
He expressed hope that the US withdrawal from Afghanistan would not contribute to the polarization of the world, adding:
The Middle East is a region that has felt more strategic confusion than anywhere else in the world.
"Strategic confusion will lead to more conflicts and crises," al-Faisal said:
Doubts about the role of the United States and its adherence to its commitments are growing after it has been the undisputed power for the past seven decades.
