Tuesday, 2 November 2021 (YJC)_ The Emir of Qatar and the President of Egypt met for the first time after the severance of relations between the two countries in 2017.

The meeting of the leaders of Egypt and Qatar after years of severed relationsArab media reported that the Emir of Qatar and the President of Egypt met at the Glasgow International Climate Summit.

According to the report, Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and Tamim bin Hamad al-Thani met on the sidelines of the meeting and held friendly talks for a few minutes.

This is the first time the leaders of the two countries have met in nearly four years.

In 2017, after Trump's first visit to Saudi Arabia, along with Bahrain and the UAE, Egypt accused Qatar of supporting terrorism and severed ties. During this time, the four countries also imposed sanctions on Qatar and closed their skies and borders to it.

Last year, under pressure from Trump in the run-up to the presidential election, these countries were forced to normalize relations with Doha and put aside hostilities, which was implemented at a meeting of the Gulf Cooperation Council in the Saudi city of Al-Ala.
