The Saudi foreign minister said that Lebanon's problem is more than its minister's remarks and is related to what he called the dominance of Iranian advocates in Lebanon.
In an interview with Al-Arabiya, Faisal bin Farhan said:
Lebanon needs comprehensive reforms to restore its sovereignty, power and position in the Arab world, and we will support any effort in this direction, and dialogue with the international community will continue.
The Saudi foreign minister went on to claim that Lebanon needed reform because of Hezbollah's dominance of key Lebanese decisions.
Ibn Farhan claimed:
Hezbollah's hegemony over the Lebanese political system worries us and renders interaction with Lebanon useless for Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states, and Lebanese leaders must find a way to return Lebanon to its place in the Arab world.
He also spoke about Saudi Arabia's talks with Iran:
Negotiations with Iran are still exploratory and have not reached major results.
The Saudi Foreign Minister also said about the Iraqi elections:
It is important that this election was held successfully and without security disruptions and had a clear result.
