11 human rights organizations oppose the election of an Emirati security official to head InterpolFollowing the name of Ahmed al-Ra'isi, the UAE Interior Ministry investigator for the International Police Directorate (Interpol), 11 human rights organizations wrote a letter to the lobbying company Project Associates to end the campaign in favor of Ahmad al-Ra'isi to take over the post.

According to the website of the Americans for Democracy and Human Rights, the letter states that human rights groups are concerned about the reports that the propaganda company publishes in favor of "Ahmad al-Ra'isi".

Ahmed al-Raisi is currently the UAE Interior Ministry investigator. An institution that is subject to strong criticism from human rights groups.

The signatories of the letter also said that they are aware of the contract signed between the advertising and lobbying company Project Associates and the UAE National Information Council in 2017, considering the numerous cases of human rights violations by forces under Ahmad al-Ra'isi and numerous complaints against him in French and British courts have accused the propaganda company of collaborating with the UAE and promoting Ahmad al-Raisi on charges of torturing prisoners, in accordance with its human and conscientious duty.

"Ahmad al-Ra'isi" plays a key role in the UAE security apparatus in suppressing and silencing dissidents and critics, and many lawyers, journalists, political activists and human rights activists have been subjected to arbitrary torture and arbitrary detention by UAE security forces.
