Thursday, 28 October 2021 (YJC)_ A court in the Netherlands has convicted a member of the Al-Ahwaziyah terrorist group of trying to conspire to finance terrorist attacks in Iran.
A court in the Netherlands yesterday (Wednesday) found a member of the Al-Ahwaziyah terrorist group guilty of plotting and financing terrorist attacks in Iran to "target the Iranian government and its supporters."
The Associated Press reports that the 42-year-old Iranian man has been sentenced to four years in prison.
According to the report, the man, whose identity was not disclosed under Dutch law regarding the protection of individuals' privacy and who had resided in the Netherlands as an Iranian refugee, was linked to the terrorist group "Al-Ahwaz Liberation Arab Movement".
This person is from Ahvaz but has been tried in the Rotterdam District Court because he has been living in the Netherlands as a refugee since receiving his residence.
The Dutch court said in a statement that the man had been in contact with separatists who had planned and carried out attacks, including the burning of banks in Iran, as well as those linked to the Iranian government.
The Dutch court also ruled that the convicted person had discussed possible targets with separatists from the Al-Ahwaziyah terrorist group in Iran, offered them financial support, and encouraged them to make video clips of their attacks inside Iran.
According to the court, the suspect played an important role in a criminal and terrorist organization that aims to support attacks in Iran.
