Tuesday, 26 October 2021 (YJC)_ According to the Russian embassy in Iran, the Russian ambassador will attend the Tehran meeting on Afghanistan, and the Russian foreign minister will also speak via video conference.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov will deliver a video speech at a meeting of Afghan ministers next week in Tehran on Wednesday (October 27th).
"The spokesman for the Russian embassy in Tehran, Maxim Suslov, told the Tass news agency on Monday:
Russian Ambassador to Iran Levan Jagarian will represent his country at the meeting.
He explained:
Regarding the Afghanistan meeting, the Russian ambassador will be present along with Lavrov. Russian officials are not coming to Tehran [to attend the meeting].
Earlier, Zamir Kabulov, the Russian president's envoy to Afghanistan and director of the Russian Foreign Ministry's Second Asia Division, said the Russian side intended to attend the meeting.
According to Tass, participants in the meeting plan to focus on ways to help form an inclusive government in Afghanistan that includes representatives of all ethnic groups.
