Tuesday, 26 October 2021 (YJC)_ The Emir of Qatar inaugurated the first session of his country's elected parliament, describing it as a "historic moment".
The Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, addressed the members of the parliament during the inauguration of the first term of the elected parliament:
I am confident that you understand the difficulty of national responsibility for legislation and strengthening cooperation with the Cabinet for the benefit of the country. Qatar has succeeded in achieving a number of goals, particularly in the areas of food security and the storage of strategic goods by encouraging investment, and has achieved most of the pillars of the national strategy.
He added:
There are still many measures to be taken by the government to diversify its sources of revenue, but the mission is not limited to the government but also the private sector.
He called the opening of the first term of the elected parliament a historic moment to complete the process of rebuilding the country's institutions.
Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani emphasized:
Qatar has played a pivotal role in the international arena and is working to strengthen the negotiations and the outcome of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) summit in Al-Ala, Saudi Arabia. Qatar has always tried to communicate with everyone and does not seek to compete with any side, but pays attention to the interests of the nations of the region.
