Monday, 25 October 2021 (YJC)_ The Lebanese foreign minister said his country would continue to improve relations with Iran, adding that Riyadh did not want closer ties with Beirut.
In an interview with a Lebanese network, Lebanese Foreign Minister Abdullah Bouhabib explained Beirut's position on relations with Iran, Saudi Arabia, the United States and Syria, and expressed hope that the US-mediated demarcation of the water border with the Zionist regime would take place.
In an interview with the Lebanese network Al-Jadeed yesterday about negotiations with the International Monetary Fund, he said that negotiations with the International Monetary Fund will probably begin in November; However, the fund has not told the government that it will not help Beirut before the election.
The Lebanese foreign minister explained that there is a lot of international pressure to hold parliamentary elections on time, and that he personally approves the holding of elections in May. The parliamentary term ends on May 21 and elections will be held before this election.
Regarding the Saudi-Iranian talks and the easing of tensions between the two sides, he said that this would have a positive impact on Lebanon.
Regarding relations between Beirut and Riyadh, Bouhbib also said:
Lebanon wants to get closer to Saudi Arabia, but Saudi Arabia does not want it. I am ready to travel to Saudi Arabia at any time, but I have no choice.
Regarding Lebanon's relations with Iran, he said that his country has good relations with Iran and will continue to improve them.
The Lebanese Foreign Minister added:
We have good relations with Iran and we will continue to improve these relations. The remarks of Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian also clarified Tehran's policy on this issue, and I am proud that we are a platform and a platform for everyone, and if an American or Saudi minister comes, we will welcome them as well.
Regarding the Iran nuclear talks, he said that these talks will also affect Lebanon.
Regarding the trip to Syria, Buhabib said:
Personally, I have no problem with this, and I will travel to Syria if the Lebanese interest demands it.
