Friday, 22 October 2021 (YJC)_ The director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency stated in an interview that there was no evidence of Iran's secret uranium enrichment.
Rafael Grossi, director general of the International Atomic Energy Agency, said there was no evidence that Iran was secretly enriching uranium.
Asked if he was confident that Iran was not secretly enriching uranium, the IAEA director general told the Stimson Center on Friday morning:
I have no information that they are doing this.
He added:
So, while there are no indications that they are doing so, I am examining all the places where they are enriching.
Grossi then responded to the host's question about his level of confidence in the information he had about Iran:
[I trust such information] is very high. I want to be very precise. If we are allowed to inspect, I have great confidence in the ability of my inspection system to understand what is happening.
In another part of the interview, the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency stated that in negotiating with Iran, it should be borne in mind that every day is important.
He said:
I think every day is important when we consider the process of negotiations and consultations with Iran ... What I am trying to focus on right now is the most immediate challenges ahead.
Rafael Grossi described the IAEA talks with Iran as "very challenging", but stressed that they were the only way to resolve the dispute.
