Thursday, 21 October 2021 (YJC)_ Adviser to the Supreme Leader on International Affairs met with former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi to discuss regional issues and the Islamic world.
Ali Akbar Velayati, in a meeting with former Iraqi Prime Minister Adel Abdul Mahdi on Thursday, welcomed Iraq, calling it a friend and brother country and said:
The Islamic Republic of Iran will always stand by the government and people of Iraq, and we have deep and historic relations with each other, and there are fewer nations in the world that have this unique amount of commonalities, and the Arbaeen March is an example of this cooperation.
Referring to the experiences of Adel Abdul Mahdi as Prime Minister of Iraq, he added:
The role of prominent and experienced people like you is very valuable, and God willing, basic actions will be taken for the benefit of the Iraqi people.
Adviser to the Supreme Leader on International Affairs emphasized:
The Islamic Republic of Iran is ready to provide assistance and cooperation with the Iraqi government and people, and fortunately, positive steps have been taken in the field of academia, which will continue vigorously.
Velayati also referred to the recent elections in Iraq and said:
The elections in Iraq show the deep and rich intellectual growth and culture of the Iraqi people, and God willing, the result will pave the way for the growth and development of the country more than before.
