Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps Major General Hossein Salami announced that the IRGC's Naval Forces will be armed with 2,000-KM-Range Cruise Missiles.
“Considerable progress in development and manufacture of unmanned aerial vehicles has been seen among navy section of IRGC. Hundreds of reconnaissance, surveillance, combat and kamikaze drones with different operational ranges of up to 1,200 kilometers (745 miles) in now used in this section,” General Salami said.
He went on to praise the IRGC Navy’s defensive and offensive capabilities, especially in the field of navigation, and added “A great achievement has been made by increasing the velocity of its speedboats to nearly one hundred knots per hour.”
He went on to announce that in the near future cruise missiles with a range of 2,000 kilometers will be used by the navy forces which are capable of targeting moving vessels and added “IRGC Navy has developed various signal collection systems, jammers and electronic warfare systems.”
