Saturday, 16 October 2021 (YJC)_ A South Korean official said Russia had announced its support for an official end to the war on the Korean Peninsula.
Russia has announced its support for an official end to the war on the Korean Peninsula, said Noh Kyu-Duk, head of the South Korean nuclear negotiating team that traveled to Moscow.
During the visit, he met with Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Igor Morglov to discuss peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Noh told reporters that the Russian government believes that a formal end to the war on the Korean Peninsula would be a credible step.
"Morglov also stressed the commitment of the Russian government to play a constructive role in advancing the peace process on the Korean Island network," he added.
Noh stressed that South Korea has stepped up talks with the United States and China to help the peace process.
South Korean President Moon Jae-in also called for an official declaration of an end to the war on the Korean Peninsula in a recent official address to the UN General Assembly.
