Thursday, 14 October 2021 (YJC)_ Commander of IRGC Aerospace Force said that all air defense systems deployed in the current drills are domestic.
During his remarks on the sidelines of the joint drills conducted jointly by the IRGC’s Aerospace Division, the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Force (IRIAF), and the Islamic Republic of Iran Air Defense Force (IRIADF), Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Aerospace Force Brigadier General Amir Ali Hajizadeh put emphasized on the fact that that all air defense systems that are used right now are domestically manufactured.
“We did not have such capabilities like about 15 years ago, at that time we were relying on foreign equipment in radar, command, and control as well as surface to air missile systems; however, thanks to God, today, we possess all these facilities in its domestic form,” said General Hajizadeh.
He went on to note that “The fully trained forces have been prepared to operate in groups. There is one group to play the role of the enemy while another is playing the role of an aggressor and the other one plays the role of defender.”
General Hajizadeh also announced that “Qods Radar System has become operational in the drills,” and added “Winged bombs have been launched for the first time in the maneuvers.”
Earlier on Tuesday morning and in the central desert areas of Iran a large-scale aerial drill has started by Iranian Army and the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) with the aim of enhancing preparedness for defending the country’s skies.
This is the operational phase of the joint large-scale drill, which codenamed Modafe’an-e Aseman-e Velayat 1400 (Defenders of Velayat Skies 1400), that has started today.
In a remark on the second day of these exercises Commander of the Islamic Revolution Guards Corps (IRGC) Major General Hossein Salami said that IRGC Aerospace Force and the Iranian Army’s Air and Air Defense Forces are fully equipped with modern defense technology.
