The company said in a statement that it had deleted 93 accounts from Facebook and 194 accounts from Instagram. Facebook claims the accounts violate the company's policy of counterfeiting.

The statement stated that the content of the messages published by these accounts was news about current issues in Lorestan province. Some of these accounts have been campaigning in recent months to increase turnout in Iran's presidential election, while criticizing Saudi Arabia and the United States.

Monday's claim is part of a campaign by social networks, including Facebook, to release unproven information about Iran. Twitter and Google have previously made similar allegations against Iran or taken action against Iranian media and individuals.
