A former US commander said on Sunday that the Chinese had been able to defeat the Americans in all areas of artificial intelligence.
Nicholas Chalan, the former commander of the US Department of Defense's software department, who recently announced his resignation, said in an interview with the Financial Times that the US inability to overtake China endangers the future of his country.
Chalan, who recently resigned in protest of the rapid transfer of new technologies to the US military, said:
We have no chance to compete with China in the next fifteen to twenty years. This has already happened, and in my view it is over, whether it is in the context of war or in other areas.
The former Pentagon official acknowledged that China was moving toward global excellence because of its technological breakthroughs, including artificial intelligence, biological products and genetics.
