He had been ill for some time and was infected with the Corona virus on August 26 and was admitted to the intensive care unit of the Cahota Research Laboratory Hospital due to deteriorating conditions.

Pakistani Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmad has confirmed his death.

Dr. Abdul Qadir Khan was very influential in turning Pakistan into a nuclear power and defending it. In May 1998, Pakistan successfully tested the Indian atomic bomb.

He has written and published more than 150 scientific and research articles.
