Tehran, YJC. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with the Belgian Ambassador to Tehran condemned the application of mass destruction weapons based on the Islamic law.
Receiving the Belgian ambassador’s credentials on Monday, Rouhani
Pointed to the numerous IAEA inspections of Iran’s nuclear facilities and said "The
fact that the Supreme Leader has recognized the making and use of mass
destruction weapons as haram is the key guarantee to the peaceful nature of Iran’s
nuclear program.”
He also pointed to the ongoing nuclear negotiations with the
Western powers and said "If the two sides come with real political decision, we
can reach a deal within the time remaining, a deal which will bring a win-win
situation for all sides.”
Pointing to the current regional developments he said "The
disease of terrorism and extremism are much more dangerous than Ebola. The only
way to fight the threat is to join our minds and work in cooperation. The Islamic
Republic of Iran is ready to hold talks on the issue with all influential
countries.”
Pointing out Iran and Belgium’s bright history of
cooperation including joint work in stretching rail roads as well as at
customs, he hoped that during the office term of the new ambassador, the
remaining tasks on agenda would be carried out in due time.
Rouhani asserted "Global trade never stops and hindrances
only change the course. The sham excuses that bring unjust sanctions on Iran have
injured countries that used to be in good relations with Iran.”
"We expect the EU to play a more active role in the negotiations.
As the place where the EU headquarters stance, Brussels can help outlooks to
become more realistic and to bring about constructive cooperation.”
The new Belgian ambassador also conveyed heart-felt regards
from the Belgian king and the country’s officials.
Iran is a powerful country in the region and we want to
expand our relations with the country.
Expressing hope toward a solution to Iran’s nuclear issue,
he stated "Belgium holds that the NPT has to be carried out on all countries
equally.”
He pointed out that the number of Belgian tourists
interested in visiting Iran has increased due to the rich cultural background
of Iran.
"We hope that as obstacles are removed, Belgian tradesmen
will expand their relations with Iran,” he said.
The incoming ambassador maintained that he intends to bring
a large trade delegation to Iran in the near future.
"The Iranian student that are studying in Belgium are among
the top students and they play a very positive role in the economy of Belgium with
no negative points,” he maintained.
