Friday, 8 October 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian parliamentary delegation traveled to Rome to attend the Pre-COP26 Parliamentary Meeting.
An Iranian parliamentary delegation traveled to the Italian capital of Rome to attend a preliminary session of the UN Climate Change Conference (COP26).
The 26th UN Climate Change Conference of the Parties (COP26) is the foremost international conference on climate change. Leaders from across the globe will attend to it to advance climate action and to promote the implementation of the Paris Agreement, the world’s major legally-binding international treaty on climate change.
The Iranian parliamentary delegation is welcomed by Iran’s Ambassador to Rome Hamid Bayat.
Bayat also hold a meeting with the lawmakers in which he pointed to the environment and agriculture of Italy, and put emphasis on the fact that Italian authorities are ready to expand cooperation with Iran in environmental and agricultural issues.
For their parts, Mehdi Farshadan, a member of executive council of the IPU, and Alireza Nazari, a member of Iranian parliament’s agricultural commission, expressed their views on climate change and green attitude in modern agriculture.
A critical opportunity is provided by COP26 in order to discuss the achievements since the Paris Agreement was signed in 2015 and to set concrete plans to reach the Paris Agreement targets.
The engagement of parliaments in annual COP meetings has long been supported by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) through the organization of parliamentary meetings.
A Pre-COP26 Parliamentary is organized by IPU on 8-9 October 2021 in Rome, Italy as part of a series of pre-COP26 events hosted by Italy.
