Thursday, 7 October 2021 (YJC)_ South Korea's first deputy foreign minister and the US special envoy for Iran spoke by telephone about the prospects of working together to revive the JCPOA.
South Korea's Foreign Ministry announced today (Thursday) that Choi Jong-kun, South Korea's first deputy foreign minister, and Robert Malley, the US special envoy to Iran, discussed co-operation in negotiations to revive the JCPOA.
South Korea's Yonhap news agency reported that the South Korean Foreign Ministry said in a statement regarding Choi Jong Kun and Mali's phone call that Choi reiterated Seoul's commitment to provide the necessary support for the resumption of the Vienna talks "given the importance of Seoul-Tehran relations."
According to the report, Malley called on Seoul to continue to play a "constructive" role in efforts to resume Vienna talks to revive JCPOA.
