Three people, including a journalist, were shot dead by unknown assailants in Jalalabad, the capital of Nangarhar province.
The incident took place last night (Saturday) in the fifth district of Jalalabad city.
The Committee to Protect Afghan Journalists reports that gunmen opened fire on the car of Sayed Maroof Sadat, an Afghan writer and journalist, and two other Taliban members.
The committee said two Taliban members were also killed in the incident. Sadat's son and another civilian were also injured in the shooting.
The immunity committee has called on the Taliban to take the incident seriously.
No individual or group has claimed responsibility for this incident.
