“Iran is seeking cooperation and engagement with all countries, but we are looking for the cooperation that is based on mutual respect, in this regard the interests of nations, and the hegemonic powers and the dominating system must be taken into account and the dominating system must not take control of these relations.”

“Iran is a truly independent country,” he said while adding that “if the Iranian nation feels other countries are bullying it will not give in and will react.

Elsewhere in his remarks he put emphasis on the fact that human rights have become a political means against some countries and urged the new UK envoy to Tehran to convey the reality about Iran to its own country.

During the meeting Simon Shercliff said that this is the second time that he is serving as a diplomat for his country after twenty years from his first mission in Iran and added “I have good experience and knowledge of Iran, my main goal would be to try to improve relations between the two countries with a positive and constructive approach.”
