Sunday, 26 September 2021 (YJC)_ President Raisi said that the sanctions cannot stop Iran from expanding its ties with other countries.
During his meeting with with the new Ambassador of Austria to Tehran Wolf Dietrich Heim on Sunday, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, said that the sanctions cannot stop Iran from expanding its ties with other countries.
“Iran is fully prepared to develop trade and economic cooperation with Austria and other countries, hurdles such as sanctions will never stop us,” he said.
He went on to describe sanctions as “illegal and oppressive” and added “Sanctions are interrupting, but they cannot impede us in our path through the development of Iran's trade and economic relations and cooperation with other countries.”
Elsewhere in his remarks he slammed the US and the European countries for and said “Iran's nuclear program is peaceful.”
President Raisi also noted that Iran is hosting a large number of Afghan refugees despite being under oppressive sanctions and added “It is upon European countries to do their part, Austria is expected to convey this to them.”
For his part, the new Austrian ambassador presented his credentials to Iranian President, announced his country has constructive relations with Iran and added “Austria is looking for expanding its cooperation with Iran, especially in the field of financing and economic exchanges.”
He expressed his willingness to enhance the level of bilateral relations of his country with Iran within the approved frameworks, appreciated the action of Iran in hosting Afghan refugees and said “The Austrian government is fully aware of Iran's humanitarian services to the refugees, especially in sensitive conditions.”
