Saturday, 25 September 2021 (YJC)_ The commander of the Panjshir Front said that a system that represents only one section of Afghan society would be impractical and would fail.
Ahmad Massoud, the leader of the Panjshir Front, issued a statement at a conference honoring Ahmad Shah Massoud at the University of Cambridge in the United Kingdom, criticizing the Taliban and calling for an inclusive government in Afghanistan.
People should elect their leaders, Massoud told the conference.
A system that represents only one section of Afghan society is impractical and will fail.
In another part of his statement, Massoud said:
Afghanistan's history has proven that forming a government based on just one section of society and imposing it on the entire people is ineffective. According to him, local people should have the power to elect leaders and hold them accountable, and this model of governance has existed in Afghanistan over the past century.
He went on to criticize the Taliban:
The Taliban have ignored women's rights since coming to power in Kabul.
Massoud claimed that the Taliban had turned Afghanistan into a hotbed of international terrorism.
He noted that since coming to power, the Taliban have stripped women of their basic rights, including the right to education, and turned Afghanistan into a hotbed of global terrorism.
Massoud emphasized:
We want an inclusive government, one that respects women's rights and not only is not isolated but has good relations with all countries of the world.
