Friday, 24 September 2021 (YJC)_ Iranian Foreign Minister criticized UK and other European countries for being indifferent to the US moves against the JCPOA.
During his meeting with Britain’s new Foreign Secretary Liz Truss Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian criticized UK and other European countries for being indifferent to the US moves against the JCPOA.
“Attitude of the European countries is what helps the US administration keep enforcing its illegal and unilateral sanctions,” Iranian FM said.
He went on to say that “Although Iran has been given many words and promises alleging that the West intended to revisit its JCPOA approach, there have been no actions.”
He then put emphasis on the fact that “UK has been part of this inaction; this approach should change as it is the very inconsistency that is being witnessed by the Iranian nation.”
The meeting was held on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly’s 76th Session in New York.
Previously, British foreign minister Liz Truss held her first meeting with Iran's foreign minister and urged Iran to return rapidly to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) negotiations in Vienna with a view to all sides coming back into compliance and reducing tensions over Iran's nuclear program.
