Friday, 24 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country Hossein Amir-Abdollahyan exchanged views with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov on bilateral relations.
Continuing his meetings on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly, our Minister of Foreign Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdullahian discussed bilateral relations with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan welcomed the holding of a trilateral meeting between Iran, Turkey and the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran.
Bayramov described the relations between the two countries as having very positive dynamics and in the right direction, and thanked Iran for its support for the territorial integrity of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
He also said that the Republic of Azerbaijan is ready to pursue joint projects in the Caspian Basin, calling for regular interactions and consultations at various levels.
In the continuation of this meeting, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of our country considered the relations between Iran and the Republic of Azerbaijan of special importance and expressed hope that the previous agreements would be implemented, noting that the new government of the Islamic Republic of Iran has given special priority to relations with neighbors.
Amir Abdullahian stressed the need to maintain this spirit by stating that the two countries have supported each other in international and regional forums.
The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran stressed that some third parties should not be allowed to affect the good relations between the two countries.
During the meeting, the Foreign Minister discussed with his Azerbaijani counterpart the facilitation of transit and traffic of Iranian trucks, as well as some consular issues, including the two Iranian drivers detained by the Azerbaijani police, and agreed to resolve the issue through contacts between the two sides.
