Friday, 24 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) announced on Thursday that over 60 million doses of various types of coronavirus vaccines have so far been imported in 55 batches to the country.
According to the latest figures published by IRICA, some 6,323,606 doses of anti-COVID vaccines arrived in the country mostly between January 4 and August 22, IRNA reported.
The figures added that 32 batches of the imported vaccines, containing 50,726,396 jabs, were the Chinese Sinopharm vaccines.
The rest of the imported vaccines included, 2,911,810 doses of AstraZeneca vaccines from Japan, 1,452,000 of Covax vaccines from Italy, and one batch of the AstraZeneca vaccines from China.
The Corona pandemic spread in Iran began in March, 2019, and its public vaccination started in March 2121.
Earlier on Thursday, Iran’s Health Ministry announced that during the past 24 hours the total number of deaths due to the coronavirus pandemic in Iran increased to 118,508 with 317 more Iranians killed by the deadly virus.
It added that the number of daily infections reached 16,362 from Wednesday to Thursday.
According to the Health Ministry statement, the total COVID-19 death toll and infections since the beginning of the outbreak in the country in late February 2020 stand at 118,508 and 5,493,591, respectively.
It noted that 6,586 COVID-19 patients are in critical condition, and of the newly-detected cases, 2,202 patients have been hospitalized.
The statement said 4,872,865 of COVID-19 patients have so far either recovered from the disease or have been discharged from hospitals.
The statement added that 31,437,588 coronavirus diagnostic tests have so far been carried out in the country and 48,281,957 doses of COVID-19 vaccines have been administered.
The Health Ministry said 57 cities in the country are coded red (very high-risk), while 238 are in the orange zone (high-risk).
The number of the country’s yellow (medium-risk) and blue (low-risk) cities are 138 and 17, respectively, according to the ministry.
