Tuesday, 21 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Saudi foreign minister said the country had no ties to the new Taliban government and stressed that Riyadh is still waiting for their recognition.
Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud told an Indian media outlet about the developments in Afghanistan that the return and revival of al-Qaeda and ISIS in Afghanistan was a "real concern".
Faisal bin Farhan told India Today:
Transnational terrorism is a concern. The Taliban have now pledged not to use Afghan territory for terrorism.
Stressing that Saudi Arabia has nothing to do with the Taliban government, he added that Riyadh would "wait and watch (developments in Afghanistan)" before recognizing them.
