Tuesday, 21 September 2021 (YJC)_ The US and British foreign ministers discussed various issues, including Iran and Afghanistan, during a meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York.
The US State Department announced on Tuesday morning that US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken had met with his British counterpart Elizabeth truss in New York.
Blinken and truss, who are in New York to attend the 76th session of the UN General Assembly, met on the sidelines of the summit.
The State Department said in a statement:
Blinken and truss discussed a range of issues, including the situation in Afghanistan, Iran, tackling climate crises, the Indo-Pacific, and strengthening bilateral economic ties.
Blinken also wrote about the meeting on his Twitter page:
I had a good face-to-face meeting with British Foreign Secretary Liz truss for the first time and talked about common priorities from Iran and Afghanistan to the Free Indo-Pacific.
