Monday, 20 September 2021 (YJC)_ Referring to the failure of the US policy of maximum pressure on Iran, the Vice President and the head of the Atomic Energy Organization said that it was time for the United States to correct its wrong policies and lift all sanctions in a practical, effective and verifiable manner. .
Speaking at the 65th General Conference of the International Atomic Energy Agency in Vienna on Monday, Mohammad Eslami said:
The Comprehensive Joint Action Plan agreed upon by the Islamic Republic of Iran to remove obstacles to progress is a clear example of the goodwill of the Islamic Republic of Iran, which the United States of America not only did not fully heed, but also pursued unilateralist policies. It violated UN Security Council Resolution 2231 and withdrew from it. The so-called "maximum pressure" policy has also failed, and the US government has no choice but to abandon its addiction to unilateral sanctions and abide by international law.
He added:
In this regard, only about two and a half years after the continuous expansion of comprehensive economic sanctions by the United States and the failure of the three European countries and the Union to take practical action to fulfill their obligations, the Islamic Consultative Assembly of Iran passed a law on December 2, 2020. According to which, the government was obliged to suspend all verification and monitoring activities beyond the Comprehensive Safeguards Agreement in Iran within two months after the entry into force of the law, if the participants continue to adhere to the agreement.
