Sunday, 19 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry announced that 15,975 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.

Iran Covid-19 live Update: Near 16K New Cases, 391 DeathsThe Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Sunday that 15,975 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours 2,207 of which has been hospitalized.

“A sum of 15,975 COVID-19 infections and 391 deaths has been identified due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to 5,424,835.”

“391 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 117,182,” the ministry added.

“6,765 people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,764,998 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.

The ministry also added that 31,007,134 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country while warning that “57 cities are rated red, 238 cities are orange, and 136 cities are yellow.”

Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent days as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.

According to the latest figures, more than 229,044,054 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing 4,702,370 and recoveries amounting to 205,663,207.
