Saturday, 18 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian Health Ministry announced that 12,847 new Covid-19 cases have been detected in the country in the past 24 hrs.
The Iranian Health Ministry spokesperson announced on Saturday that 12,847 new COVID-19 infections have been detected across the country in the past 24 hours 2,124 of which has been hospitalized.
“A sum of 12,847 COVID-19 infections and 364 deaths has been identified due to the disease in the past 24 hours” the spox said while adding that “This brings the total number of cases to 5,408,860.”
“355 COVID patients have lost their lives in the past 24 hours that bring the total death toll 116,791,” the ministry added.
“6,836people are being treated in ICUs in hospitals across the country, while 4,736,896 have already gained recovery,” the health ministry added.
The ministry also added that 30,893,103 coronavirus diagnosis tests have so far been carried out across the country while warning that “57 cities are rated red, 238 cities are orange, and 136 cities are yellow.”
Iran has seen a major surge in the number of coronavirus deaths and infections in recent days as the Delta variant of the virus continues to spread across the country.
According to the latest figures, more than 228,534,025 people have so far been infected with the novel coronavirus globally, with the deaths standing 4,695,283 and recoveries amounting to 205,139,445.
