After meeting with his Iranian, Russian and Pakistani counterparts on the sidelines of the SCO summit, the Chinese Foreign Minister stressed the need to coordinate their efforts to restore peace in Afghanistan.
The Chinese Foreign Ministry issued a statement following a four-way meeting between the foreign ministers of Beijing, Tehran, Moscow and Islamabad on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Council meeting in Dushanbe, Tajikistan.
According to the Russian Tass news agency, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met with Hussein Amir Abdullahian, Sergei Lavrov, Shah Mahmoud Qureshi, the foreign ministers of Iran, Russia and Pakistan, and stressed the need for coordination between the two countries on Afghanistan.
During the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister announced that Beijing is ready to strengthen coordination with Moscow, Tehran and Islamabad in order to play a constructive role in preventing chaos, combating terrorism and restoring peace in Afghanistan.
