Moscow has repeatedly expressed concern about Western interference in Russia's parliamentary elections. Russia's foreign ministry has said it will "respond strongly" to any "unacceptable" interference in its internal affairs.
A Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman said on Tuesday that Moscow would not suspend talks with the United States and would establish relations based on Washington's practical actions.
Tensions between Russia and the West, especially the United States, have escalated over the years over several cases, including developments in Ukraine and allegations of involvement in the US presidential election, and Washington has imposed several rounds of sanctions on Moscow.
