News sources reported Thursday that China has injected both doses of the corona vaccine to 71 percent of its population of more than 1 billion people.
The country where the coronavirus was first detected has largely controlled it within its borders but has now vaccinated much of its population.
Mi Feng, a spokesman for China's National Health Commission, told a news conference:
As of September 15, 2.16 billion doses of the vaccine had been injected nationwide.
More than 890 million people in China were fully vaccinated and 2 billion doses of the vaccine were injected late last month.
