A White House statement said Biden was due to travel to New York on Tuesday, September 21, to address the 76th session of the UN General Assembly.

According to Reuters, due to the spread of the Covid 19 virus worldwide, a large number of UN leaders have been addressing the General Assembly for two years without physical presence and via videoconferencing.

The 76th session of the UN General Assembly in 2021 begins today (September 14th) and its general deliberations will last from September 21st to September 27th.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said last week that Russian President Vladimir Putin had no plans to attend this year's general assembly.
