Iran eyeing $5b rise in non-oil exports by late March: Minister

Tuesday, 14 September 2021 (YJC)_Iran is looking to increase the volume of its non-oil exports by $5 billion in the second half of the Persian calendar year (Sept. 23, 2021-March 20, 2022), said the minister of industry, mine and trade.

Iran eyeing $5b rise in non-oil exports by late March: MinisterSeyyed Reza Fatemi-Amin made the remarks following a meeting with members of the Parliament’s Economic Committee on Monday, IRNA reported.

The Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA) reported last week that the country posted over $3.3-billion worth of non-oil exports for the calendar month to August 22, indicating a 54% growth compared to the same period last year.

IRICA also registered a trade surplus of $1.263 billion during the 31-day period.

China, with over 2.4 million tons, worth $1.5 billion, took credit for 45% in value of Iranian non-oil exports, indicating a 20% rise compared to its preceding month.

Iraq, meanwhile, imported 1.08 million tons of Iranian products in the same period, valued at $346 million. The figure shows a 27% decline in value of exports to the western neighbor compared to its previous month.

The United Arab Emirates ($285 million), Turkey, ($184 million), Afghanistan ($127 million), were the other major destinations of the Iranian goods.
