Monday, 13 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Sudanese ambassador to Moscow said that a military agreement with Russia would be signed in the near future, referring to some amendments to the military agreement with Russia and the denial of economic aid from that country.
Sudan is not seeking financial assistance from Moscow in exchange for an agreement on a Russian offshore logistics facility in the Sudanese port, Onur Ahmed Onur, acting director of the Sudanese embassy in Russia, said.
According to the Sudan Post, the Sudanese diplomat said:
It is not true. This news is not true. This news is baseless. Sudan is not asking for any payment in connection with the Russian military base agreement.
Onur said he believes the military agreement with Russia will be signed in the near future and expects some small changes. And the reforms are set to be discussed in the Russia-Sudan Military Cooperation Commission.
Earlier, a source in the Sudanese army told Sputnik:
Khartoum is seeking to amend the 2020 agreement on the construction of Russian naval logistics facilities in the Sudanese port and is asking Moscow for help with a five-year lease and the possibility of an economic deal.
