Iran to introduce Euro 5 emission standard on gasoline usage

Thursday, 9 September 2021 (YJC)_ The Iranian government is to announce a new set of emission standards for gasoline usage in vehicles as it seeks to reduce pollution in large cities.

Iran to introduce Euro 5 emission standard on gasoline usageHead of the Institute of Standards & Industrial Research of Iran said on Wednesday that the government body will introduce Euro 5 standard to control emissions of light passenger and commercial vehicles.

Gholamreza Shariati said the new standards had been compiled and the government will soon announce them as part of a new directive issued to various departments.  

Under on the new standards, refineries in Iran will have to supply higher-quality gasoline to motorists in large cities while vehicle manufacturers are supposed to redesign the fuel system in their products to comply with the new rules.

Iran has already implemented the Euro 4 standard for exhaust emissions of all vehicles traveling in the country.
