The announcement of members of the new Afghan government by the Taliban was met with a response from the US State Department.
"We are concerned about the affiliations and backgrounds of some members of the new administration announced by the Taliban," State Department spokesman Ned Price told a news conference Tuesday evening.
According to US media, Price, referring to the temporary nature of the list announced by the Taliban, said: We judge it by action, not by their words. We have made it clear that the people of Afghanistan deserve an inclusive government.
Emphasizing the need not to use Afghan territory for terrorist attacks, he said: We reiterate our position that we expect the Taliban to ensure that Afghan territory is not used as a threat to any other country.
