US President Joe Biden has ordered $ 47 million in immediate aid to the Lebanese army, according to a White House statement Tuesday evening.
In this statement, Biden stated:
Under the powers given to me as president, under the Foreign Aid Act, the Secretary of State is authorized to withdraw $ 25 million to purchase goods and services to provide immediate assistance to the Lebanese Armed Forces. The State Department could also use another $ 22 million in US Department of Defense defense services to provide immediate assistance to the Lebanese military.
