According to Al-Quds Al-Arabi, Washington has expressed "concern" over the Taliban government, following the announcement of the formation of a Taliban government and the awarding of several senior posts to figures who have been active in the 20-year war against the US-led coalition.
State Department spokesman Ned Price said his country was concerned about the "affiliation and background" of some individuals appointed by the Taliban to key government positions.
Price added:
We also reiterate our clear expectations that the Taliban will ensure that Afghan territory is not used to threaten any other country and that it guarantees humanitarian access to protect the Afghan people.
