Tehran, YJC. Iranian President Hassan Rouhani in a meeting with Lebanese Defense Minister Samir Moqbel in Tehran called for regional countries to join hands in fighting terrorism.
"Iran believes that terrorist groups have to be driven out of the region and their criminal activities to be stopped. Therefore, it is necessary for all regional countries to unite,” Rouhani asserted on Sunday evening.

He added "The Islamic Republic of Iran supports and will continue to support the Syrian, Lebanese, Iraqi, and other nations that are fighting terrorism.”

Rouhani, who also is the head of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, expressed praise for the Lebanese resistance against Israel.

"I hope that the unity and resistance of the Lebanese nation continues to be so deterrent that the Zionist regime would not dare think of transgressing the country’s land,” he said.

Pointing to regional situations he said "A big mistake committed by some regional and Western countries and still continues to exist is their support for armed terrorist groups. They have to know that no terrorist, homicidal group can make a tool for infiltrating into the region.”

The Lebanese defense minister in turn said "Today, beside the Zionist enemy, another enemy has sprung up in the region which is terrorist and Takfiri groups.”

Moqbel stated "All the Lebanese from all ethnicities and parties are unanimous on fighting terrorist groups and the Lebanese army is fully unified and integrated.”

"What is important to us is to protect the Lebanese borders and fight terrorist groups; and to reiterate our security organizations’ readiness to keep Lebanon secure.”
