Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman Wang Wenbin said his country was closely monitoring developments in Afghanistan and the formation of a new government.
According to the CJT website, Wenbin told a news conference on Friday that the Chinese embassy in Afghanistan is one of the key channels for communication between the two countries, and that the agency is currently operating normally.
The Chinese diplomat said:
We hope that an open and comprehensive government will be formed in Afghanistan that has a balanced and reasonable domestic and foreign policy and is not affiliated with any terrorist group.
Wenbin added:
The Chinese government hopes that all parties in Afghanistan will be able to resolve their differences through negotiation to ensure a peaceful transfer of power.
A Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesman said:
Only then can the people of the war-torn country of Afghanistan recover from the chaos and achieve lasting peace.
He continued:
China hopes that all parties in Afghanistan will reflect the demands of their people and the expectations of the international community.
