While some senior Taliban officials have said that the next government of Afghanistan will be announced by Friday, the announcement of this government has been postponed indefinitely.
Shir Mohammad Abbas Stanekzai, the deputy head of the Taliban's political office in Qatar, announced that the new Afghan government would be announced on Friday (September 3rd).
The remarks came after a three-day consultative meeting between the Taliban and the group's leader, Mullah Hebatullah Akhundzadeh, in Kandahar, and an "inclusive" government was to be announced yesterday, including representatives of all ethnic groups.
The Taliban have not yet commented on why the Afghan government will not be announced.
