Mohammad Naeem, a spokesman for the Taliban's political bureau, said the group has met with a representative of the Italian prime minister and promised to reopen the Italian embassy in Kabul.
EU foreign policy chief Joseph Borrell also spoke on Friday about Afghanistan: The EU must deal with the Taliban in Afghanistan, but that does not mean recognizing them.
According to Al Jazeera, Borrell added: We will judge the Taliban based on their commitment to forming an inclusive government and not hosting terrorists.
